Lumbar Disc Surgery

  1. Pre-Arrival Assessment
Before traveling, our spine specialists review your MRI scans, medical history, symptoms, and previous treatments through an online consultation. This ensures that lumbar disc surgery is the appropriate option and helps us choose the best surgical technique (microdiscectomy, endoscopic discectomy, or minimally invasive procedures).
  2. Airport Transfer and Hospital Admission
Upon arrival, our international patient coordinators provide airport pickup and bring you directly to the hospital. Admission is completed the same day so that pre-operative evaluations can begin promptly.
  3. Pre-Operative Evaluation (Day 1)
    Your preparation includes:
    • MRI review or updated imaging if needed
    • Blood tests
    • Neurological and spine examination
    • Anesthesia assessment
The surgeon explains the procedure, expected results, recovery timeline, and postoperative care.
  4. Day of Surgery (Day 2)
Lumbar disc surgery is performed under general or spinal anesthesia, depending on the technique.
The surgeon removes the herniated or compressed disc material that is pressing on the nerves. Modern approaches such as microdiscectomy or endoscopic surgery allow smaller incisions, faster recovery, and reduced post-operative pain.
After surgery, you are transferred to the recovery room and then to your inpatient ward.
  5. Hospital Stay
Most patients stay 1–2 nights depending on the technique and their recovery speed. During this period, you receive:
    • Pain management
    • Physiotherapy and early mobilization
    • Wound care
    • Neurological monitoring
  6. Discharge and Follow-Up
At discharge, you receive full guidance on walking, sitting, lifting restrictions, wound care, and medication use.
Our international patient team remains available 24/7 through WhatsApp for any questions after you return home.
  7. Recovery & Rehabilitation
Within a few weeks, most patients return to normal activities. A personalized rehabilitation program can be arranged for those who wish to maximize recovery with physiotherapy and spine-strengthening exercises.
